Miami, United States — WNBA All-Star guard Arike Ogunbowale was arrested early Thursday morning in Miami after an alleged altercation outside a nightclub during celebrations following a professional basketball championship, according to police reports and media accounts.

Authorities said Arike Ogunbowale, 29, was taken into custody around 4:20 a.m. and charged with misdemeanor battery after allegedly punching a man during a dispute outside Club E11EVEN. The incident occurred hours after her team, Mist BC, won the Unrivaled 3-on-3 league championship in Miami.

Police reports cited by multiple outlets state that the alleged victim was struck in the face during the confrontation and fell to the ground. Arike Ogunbowale was later released after posting a $1,000 bond.

The Dallas Wings guard had scored 19 points in the championship game the night before, helping Mist secure the title in the offseason professional league.

Officials with the WNBA and the Dallas Wings said they were aware of the situation and were gathering additional information. Neither organization immediately announced disciplinary action.

Arike Ogunbowale is one of the WNBA’s most prominent players. Drafted fifth overall by Dallas in 2019 out of the University of Notre Dame, the 5-foot-8 guard has become a cornerstone of the Wings roster and a four-time WNBA All-Star. She led the league in scoring in 2020 and has averaged nearly 20 points per game across her professional career.

The incident comes during the WNBA offseason as teams prepare for the 2026 campaign, which is scheduled to begin in May. The Wings are expected to open their season against the Indiana Fever.

No further details about the investigation or potential court proceedings were immediately released by Miami authorities. The story is developing.
