Paxton Lynch 30, was selected in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos. He appeared in five games over two seasons with Denver before being released in 2018 after failing to secure a consistent starting role.
Following his departure from the Broncos, Paxton Lynch had brief stints with the Seattle Seahawks and Pittsburgh Steelers during offseason and practice squad periods, but did not see regular-season action with either franchise.
In recent years, Lynch has pursued opportunities in emerging football leagues. He played in the United States Football League (USFL), where he started games for the Michigan Panthers, and later joined the XFL, seeking to reestablish his career as a starting quarterback.
League officials and team representatives have said that players like Paxton Lynch bring experience and visibility to developing leagues, which aim to provide additional pathways for professional athletes outside the NFL.
Lynch played college football at the University of Memphis, where he set multiple program records and was widely regarded as a top quarterback prospect prior to entering the draft.
While he has not returned to an NFL roster, Lynch continues to compete professionally, reflecting a broader trend of former NFL players extending their careers through alternative leagues.
