World Wrestling Entertainment has confirmed that Royal Rumble 2026 will take place in January as part of the company’s annual premium live event calendar, according to a statement released by the organization. The event will continue its role as a cornerstone of WWE’s Road to WrestleMania, featuring the men’s and women’s Royal Rumble matches that determine championship contenders.
World Wrestling Entertainment said the 2026 edition will follow the traditional Royal Rumble format, with 30 competitors entering the ring at timed intervals. Winners of the men’s and women’s matches will earn title shots at WrestleMania later in the year, a stipulation that has been in place since the women’s Royal Rumble was introduced in 2018.
Royal Rumble 2026 is one of WWE’s longest-running events, first held in 1988, and has grown into a major international draw for live audiences and broadcast partners. The 2025 edition set strong viewership and attendance benchmarks, reinforcing the event’s status as a key driver of fan engagement early in the wrestling calendar year, the company said.
WWE officials confirmed that additional details, including the host city, venue, ticket on-sale dates, and participating talent, will be announced in the coming months. The event is expected to be broadcast globally on WWE’s streaming and television partners, consistent with previous years.
Royal Rumble 2026 is expected to play a significant role in shaping storylines leading into WrestleMania, WWE’s flagship annual event. The story is developing.
