Cole Anthony was traded to the Phoenix Suns on Thursday as part of a four-player exchange with the Milwaukee Bucks, according to multiple reports citing league sources. The move, completed near the NBA trade deadline, sends Anthony and Amir Coffey to Phoenix in return for Nick Richards and Nigel Hayes-Davis, reshaping both teams’ backcourt and frontcourt depth.
Cole Anthony, a 25-year-old guard and former first-round draft pick, had seen limited playing time with Milwaukee this season, averaging about 15 minutes across 35 appearances. His role in Phoenix remains uncertain, with established guards already in the rotation and competition for minutes expected to remain tight.
The trade represents Phoenix’s first significant roster move at the 2026 deadline and is viewed as an effort to add scoring off the bench while also reducing the team’s tax burden, according to reporting on the transaction.
Cole Anthony joined the Bucks in July 2025 after reaching a buyout agreement with the Memphis Grizzlies, who had acquired him earlier in an offseason trade involving Desmond Bane. During the 2024–25 campaign, he averaged 9.4 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game, continuing a career marked by intermittent starting opportunities and bench scoring production.
Originally selected 15th overall in the 2020 NBA Draft after playing at North Carolina, Anthony spent his first five NBA seasons with the Orlando Magic before subsequent moves to Memphis, Milwaukee and now Phoenix.
Phoenix’s immediate plans for Anthony were not fully detailed, though reports indicated he could be questionable to make his team debut in the days following the trade.
The transaction comes as teams finalize rosters ahead of the postseason push, with further deadline activity possible across the league. The story is developing.
