Chipotle Mexican Grill is offering a limited one-hour buy-one-get-one-free promotion on Friday, March 13, allowing customers with tattoos—permanent, temporary, or drawn—to receive a free entrée with the purchase of another at participating restaurants. The promotion runs from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. local time in select locations across the United States and several international markets, the company said.

The fast-casual restaurant chain said the promotion is tied to the tradition of “flash tattoo” events commonly associated with Friday the 13th. Customers showing a tattoo during the one-hour window can purchase an entrée and receive a second one of equal or lesser value at no additional cost when ordering in-restaurant.

Chipotle stated the offer applies only to in-person orders and excludes online, mobile, delivery, and catering purchases. Children’s meals are also not eligible under the terms of the promotion. Each tattoo-displaying customer can qualify for one free entrée, with a maximum of five free items allowed per check.

The campaign revives Chipotle’s “Tatted Like a Chipotle Bag” marketing effort first introduced in 2025, inspired by online memes comparing tattoo patterns to the artwork printed on the company’s takeout bags. Company officials said the initiative celebrates brand fandom and social media culture tied to the restaurant chain.

As part of this year’s promotion, Chipotle also collaborated with hip-hop artist Swae Lee to create limited-edition temporary tattoo designs available at a Miami location during the promotional hour. Stephanie Perdue, Chipotle’s interim chief marketing officer, said the campaign aims to connect with fans who have embraced the brand’s imagery and humor online.

The promotion comes as the company continues broader efforts to drive customer engagement through limited-time offers and menu innovation. Executives have said the chain plans to introduce multiple new menu items during 2026 while expanding its restaurant footprint.

Chipotle Mexican Grill, founded in 1993, operates more than 4,000 restaurants globally and specializes in made-to-order burritos, bowls, tacos, and other Mexican-inspired dishes.
