Apple TV+ has confirmed that a fourth season of Ted Lasso Season 4 is in development, according to a statement from the streaming service, marking the first official continuation since the Emmy-winning comedy concluded its third season in May 2023. The company said series co-creator and star Jason Sudeikis is attached to the project, with plans to expand the show’s story world.
Apple did not announce a release date or production start timeline, but said the new season remains in early development. The third season had been widely promoted as a narrative conclusion, leaving the future of the series uncertain for more than a year.
In a statement, Apple TV+ said the creative team is continuing to explore new stories within the Ted Lasso Season 4 universe, while declining to provide details on plot or casting beyond Sudeikis’s involvement. No episode count or filming locations were disclosed.
The original series, which premiered in 2020, follows an American football coach hired to manage a struggling English soccer club. The show became a breakout hit during the COVID-19 pandemic, earning multiple Emmy Awards and broad international viewership.
Cast members including Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Juno Temple have previously said they would be open to returning if the story warranted it, but Apple has not confirmed which actors, if any, are under contract for season four.
Apple TV+ has increasingly leaned on established franchises to drive subscriber growth amid heightened competition in the streaming market, renewing several high-profile series while also expanding spinoff and sequel development across its slate.
