Former “Boy Meets World” actress Maitland Ward is promoting her upcoming appearance in an HBO Max documentary series while continuing to speak publicly about her transition from mainstream television to adult entertainment, according to posts shared on her verified social media accounts and recent interviews. Maitland Ward said she will appear in the HBO Max series “Hollywood Demons” in an episode set to air April 27, describing the program as exposing the darker side of the entertainment industry and the treatment of child actors, according to her Instagram post.
Maitland Ward, 48, played Rachel McGuire on the ABC sitcom “Boy Meets World” from 1998 to 2000 and previously appeared on “The Bold and the Beautiful” and the 2004 film “White Chicks”. She announced in 2019 that she would begin performing in adult films, releasing her first project “Drive” with the studio Deeper.com in September 2019 after signing with talent agency Society 15.
In multiple interviews, including with Fox News and Entrepreneur, Ward said the career change has brought her “more respect” and greater financial control, stating she now earns six figures monthly from OnlyFans and additional income from contracts with adult studios and sex toy companies. “I make so much more money. I have so much more control, and I am having so much more fun,” Ward told Entrepreneur, adding that she was paid well in Hollywood “but nothing near what I am making now”.
The actress detailed her experiences in her 2022 memoir “Rated X: How Porn Liberated Me from Hollywood,” where she wrote about feeling typecast in mainstream roles and described encounters on set that made her uncomfortable. Maitland Ward told Fox News that on adult film sets she felt “the most comfortable I’ve ever been,” citing what she described as open communication in the industry.
In March 2025, Entertainment Weekly and the New York Post published interviews quoting Ward saying she receives “more respect” working in adult entertainment than she did during her Disney and sitcom career.
Ward has continued to appear at mainstream conventions and reunions. In June 2025, she reunited with “White Chicks” co-star Anne Dudek at Garden State Comic Fest in New Jersey, where the pair recreated scenes from the film. According to a representative, Maitland Ward was named the top-grossing mainstream star nationally across regional comic cons in June 2025, with nearly $20,000 in photo, merchandise, and autograph sales at events.
She also addressed her career shift in a March 2026 video posted by PLUG TALK, saying former colleagues initially questioned her decision but later offered support after she “accumulated awards, built a sizable fan base, and demonstrated genuine happiness”.
Tensions with former “Boy Meets World” cast members surfaced during a 2024 episode of the “Pod Meets World” podcast hosted by Danielle Fishel, Rider Strong, and Will Friedle. Maitland Ward accused the hosts of “grilling” her for ratings and said Fishel had distanced herself during a “Girl Meets World” set visit, while Fishel apologized and denied ill intent, according to The Express Tribune. The episode ended with Fishel inviting Ward to return for future discussions.
Maitland Ward said she continues to pitch her memoir for television adaptation and attended the 2025 AVN Expo. The story is developing.
