The storm damaged homes, downed trees, and caused power outages across Washtenaw County, with authorities continuing to assess the full extent of the impact.
The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning after radar detected rotation within a fast-moving storm system approaching Ann Arbor. Emergency sirens were activated, and residents were instructed to take immediate shelter as conditions rapidly deteriorated.
Local officials said the Ann Arbor tornado caused structural damage in several neighborhoods, with reports of roofs partially torn off, shattered windows, and debris scattered across streets. Emergency crews were deployed to affected areas to assist residents and clear roadways blocked by fallen trees and power lines.
